Welcome! The Hedges on Blue Mountain Lake is a well-known Adirondack landmark that has been enjoyed by individuals and families as guests for generations, and now welcomes more than 1,000 guests each season. Situated on over 12 acres of pristine Adirondack woods, with 1,600 feet of waterfront, The Hedges on Blue Mountain Lake has more than 30 lodging options, including fourteen lakeside and non-lakeside cabins, five lodge suites, twelve lodge rooms, a full-service dining room serving breakfast and dinner daily; and boats, docks, a beach, tennis court, activities pavilion and a game room available for guest use from early June until mid-October.

The Hedges on Blue Mountain Lake offers a wide variety of accommodations from adults-only lodge rooms to 4 bedroom cabins for your family or friends. Our resort is a smoke-free property. Our guests enjoy stepping back in time, being pleasantly secluded without television and taking a break from technology. Getting back to nature is the theme here, whether on the lake, a mountain or nearby hiking trails.
Dining
The Hedges on Blue Mountain Lake offers a wide variety of meals prepared and served by our friendly staff. Gather in the Benton Dining Room and let our chefs and their staff pamper you with their culinary creations.
A made-to-order breakfast (served with Adirondack maple syrup!) and a four-course dinner plus an evening snack are included in your daily room rate. Picnic lunches and alcoholic beverages can be purchased. Our pastry chef can make special occasion cakes for an additional charge, too.
Activities during your Stay
We want you to have lots of fun! Guests have full use of our recreational facilities. Boats (canoes, kayaks, paddle boards), docks, sandy beach, clay tennis court, two game rooms, library, bicycles, basketball, lawn games, lodge porches, and sitting rooms with fireplaces are provided. History of The Hedges on Blue Mountain Lake
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the property started as the Duryea Camp in 1880. The camp became “The Hedges” when the Collins family welcomed its first guests in 1921. The Hedges evolved and grew throughout the twentieth century. For his rugged yet comfortable Great Camp, Civil War General Hiram Duryea chose one of the most beautiful settings in the Adirondack Mountains. Into the shoreline of crystal-clear Blue Mountain Lake he tucked a boathouse, dining room, kitchen, and other buildings for the enjoyment of his family and guests wishing to escape the heat and humidity of New York City. Over the past 100 years since the “General’s Camp” became The Hedges on Blue Mountain Lake, many buildings have been added, and improvements made by several subsequent owners. They have preserved this famous rustic resort so future generations of guests can continue to share in the camp’s unique charm and ambiance.
