Frequently Asked Questions
When is The Hedges open?
Our 2027 season runs June 2 – October 11.
How do I book a stay?
Complete a Reservation Request through the online form or the printable PDF form on our Request a Reservation page. Requests for the 2027 season receive a response in early 2027. If your reservation is possible, you'll receive a Reservation Confirmation by email along with a deposit request.
Do I need a deposit to hold my reservation?
Yes, a deposit of 33% of your reservation cost (not including tax and gratuity) is required to confirm your stay, payable by check, money order, or credit card in US funds.
What's your cancellation policy?
A full deposit refund is issued for cancellations made more than 45 days before your arrival date. We're unable to refund deposits or accept reductions in guests or length of stay within 45 days of arrival. Deposits also can't be carried over to a future season, so we recommend travel insurance in case plans change close to your stay.
What's included in my rate?
All rates include a made-to-order breakfast, a four-course dinner, beverages day and evening, an evening snack, campfire circle access, fireplaces, Wi-Fi, daily housekeeping, private baths, in-room refrigerators (kitchenettes in some units), hair dryers, access to the Crow's Nest Gift Shop, and use of all recreational facilities. Alcoholic beverages and box lunches are available for an additional charge.
How do I pay my balance?
We accept cash, check, money order, or credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover). Paying your balance by cash or check at checkout earns a 3% discount.
Do you add gratuity automatically?
Yes. We ask guests not to leave gratuities at mealtime or for individual services. A suggested 15% gratuity for the service staff is added at checkout instead.
Is The Hedges on Blue Mountain Lake pet-friendly?
No pets are permitted, with the exception of certified service dogs, guide dogs, and hearing dogs, which must remain with their owners at all times. Call us for information on local kennels.
Is smoking allowed?
No, The Hedges on Blue Mountain Lake is a smoke-free property.
What meals are included, and can I skip one?
Lodging includes a full cooked-to-order breakfast and a four-course evening meal daily. We're unable to make rate allowances for missed meals.
What is there to do at The Hedges on Blue Mountain Lake?
There are so many fun things to do here! Guests have full use of our recreational facilities: canoes, kayaks, and paddle boards; docks; a sandy beach; a clay tennis court; two game rooms; a library; bicycles; basketball; lawn games; and porches and sitting rooms with fireplaces. We also host group activities such as bingo, yoga, painting, arts and crafts for kids, ice cream sundae nights, astronomy lectures, and nightly campfires — along with a self-guided Nature Trail right on the property.
Can I bring my own boat?
Yes, just note that dock parking and shore storage are limited, so we recommend letting the Front Office know in advance. We also have boating guidance to help protect the lake.
Do I need a fishing license?
Yes, a New York State fishing license is required and can be purchased online. We also have a Fishing Guidebook available at the Front Office.
Are hiking trails nearby?
Yes! Given our location in the beautiful Adirondack Park, there are trails of varying distance and difficulty located all around us including popular climbs like Castle Rock and Blue Mountain. A hiking guide is available at the Front Office, and we also offer an Accessible Recreation Guide for those with mobility considerations.
